The episode is the testament to the stoic nature of characters in Vinland Saga, atleast the ones who are loved by the fans. The characters who worked their ass off for years and then understand that they have to fight the war to realize their freedom. Thorfinn becomes a top tier character and finally understands his father.
This will be a very emotionally charged second cours.

This essentially is the tale of two sons and two fathers. Thors and Thorfinn. Canute and Sweyn. How their children realize the aspirations of their fathers and transform themselves for their own sake or to rebel against their father. And Askeladd of course, who is the driver for both Canute and Thorfinn.

I think every character has depth in this manga. I feel it's more about Norse customs, emotions, and the law of cause & effect. Ketil is also an interesting case. He's a benevolent Slave owner...On the surface. Then you have his sons with two very different personalities.

Still tho, she had a husband? Our poor Einar got NTR'd.

Naomi~ • 1 year ago

is it really ntr if it was never romantic and that's her real husband?

I'm obviously generalizing NTR here, I've used it as a word to mean ¢u¢k lol.

ashcrimson23 • 1 year ago

why didnt you write cuck like normal people do?

I like having my comments be family friendly lmao. Swearing isn't really my thing, y'know xD.

Balder777 • 1 year ago

I won't spoil the story for you, but considering what happens to her, let's just say Einar will be even more shocked.

Nikola Nikolov • 10 months ago

well that was a plot twist i didnt expect was wondering if that was her brother or husband wellp Einar will have to find another wifu to fall for this one is taken

chrixle • 1 year ago

Why surface only?

throwingthis1away • 1 year ago

Cause at the end of the day he's still a slave owner and no matter how nice you treat them, they're still slaves to you

chrixle • 1 year ago

Well, that's hierarchy and natural. You can question slavery, but in the end you cannot break it like that. This hierarchy also exists in the modern world just not as transparent. But when you are a lower class, you are bound to that. In one way you are the same. In case of an emergency, you will tread those closest to you first and will leave others be. If you would be brought at the edge of your existence, your family and yourself are closest. After that... there is a huge gap... In addition, you have to consider the circumstances not how you are now or whatever. That's a comparison of the fools.

Amadeus • 10 months ago

Lmao nothing is "natural" about hierarchies. They're something exclusive to social animals. Some of them are justifiable and others are not. Slavery is not a justifiable hierarchy. We shouldn't allow its existence.
I agree with you on one thing though. Yeah, Slavery never went away. It just changed form.

chrixle • 10 months ago

You know that hierarchies exists everywhere in nature? Even for ants, bees or plants have hierarchy. A lot of trees only make use of their seeds after a fire. That's a hierarchical system to prevent overgrowth, where the current living ones are priotized of the potential new ones. Your thinking is just far to narrow. The food chain itself is a hierarchical system. Slavery can never go away, as slavery itself is just another view of hierarchy. You are always bound to enslave something for you own good. If it is other animals or plants. It's impossible for you to survive without enslaving lifeforms below you. You cannot break the food chain.

We can discuss what and how we want this to be. True. But to think we can live totally without is just naive and shows just a narrow view and understanding of the world itself.

AquaDrix • 1 year ago

Well, I can't say much without spoiling so I won't

chrixle • 1 year ago

Well, regardless what happened, when you are brought to the edge of existence, you will barely know any friends, naturally. If you think you are different, you just dont know the nature of lifeforms like us.

Absolutely, every character in this show that can be considered a main character has had some show of their past and invests us into their story. I love when animes give flashbacks to characters' past when they are in the heat of things and it intensifies the moment for the character but more importantly, us :p

vovan1 • 1 year ago

yep, this is still the only show worth watching on Monday.

Crimson.Princess • 1 year ago

what about kuma kuma kuma bear

Anonymous User • 1 year ago

But are you really gonna try to compare that to Vinland Saga?

vovan1 • 1 year ago

i bear-ely managed to see the 1st season, i can't bear to watch the 2nd 1, -kuma

I really am loving this story driven plot rather than all fighting and killing, ofc I'd love to see fights every now and then, I loved S1 for the fights but now I'm loving S2 even more for the character development and relationships that Thorfinn and the other characters have built. This anime is no less than a masterpiece it has been proven again.

Mr. Happy • 1 year ago

Man you got just describe whole Vinland saga in just two lines damm 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻ossaamm

hangeren • 1 year ago

Man, I do not know how people are pissed about the "Farmland Saga" bs.
Very few stories give their characters this much life to breath and make them appeal to us, as much as Vinland Saga.
The charm of Snake, the stoic yet gentleness of Thorfinn, the idealistic Einar, the unwilling to accept his age and yet so strong in his mind Gramps.
Every episode is practically a celebration of life. The moments of relief followed by agony.

I love it.

P.S Lizard practically killed himself. He should have stopped talking. gardar is loose af

Leonard Wolf • 1 year ago

Absolutely agree. There is so much interesting evolution of characters. Even quotes which are used are impressive and really spot on. Loved the scene when granpa said to Thorfinn what to do while feeling empty. That ring the bell absolutely and I didn't even mention different POV on hard social question as well as understanding for both sides... that's top.

DesuYoda • 1 year ago

Top Tier writing here. Epic.

Faruk Bilir • 1 year ago

Haters just want attention because they do not get that from their environment. So they just find something to hate on and get peoples reactions. I can't find any other explanation for the Vinland Saga hatred.

Druid1 • 1 year ago

The story slowed down drastically, people like faster pacing. I get it, even though I'm enjoying the show myself. Right now it's all coming to a boil and is about to get real

chrixle • 1 year ago

This is not the problem but the story telling. You start season 1 and basically get a totally different anime in season 2 just in the same lore. It's is to be expected people are upset about that and totally understandable. I do not think that changing the story telling and plot thread is fundamentally a good choice at all, to be more precise, it is a bad design decision.

As of now season 1 was more interesting. This hallucination thingies in season 2 fells too off for me. However, the best characters of season 1 already died, twice. In the beginning and ending.

shadow-kr • 1 year ago

well said friend most people stayed after the battle themed episodes of season 1 but for me the thing that made vinland saga so special is the vibe that the studio keeps enhacing in every episode, it's calme and peacful and it get more and more brutal you forget that you're watching an anime and more a part of history!

Namake David • 1 year ago

Well, I heard that author had a change of heart after his child was born and decided to make Thorfinn a pacifist. People have the right to not like it after the change

People have been waiting for fighting in the Slave Arc. You will probably not be disappointed even though the fighting is not that much

Balder777 • 1 year ago

Who cares about these people?
They're bottom feeding people who can't handle a mature story.

onii -chan • 1 year ago

Mature story... Bro some people aren't here for a deep story for you to go discuss with some sad fucks on 4chan while you jerk off too loli porn. Bro really said mature story, the last 6 episodes have been the same fucking episode with some intense moments but nothing like the first one. You are literally saying with your sentence that the first season- was for bottom feeding people who can't handle a mature story, but you watched it tho right? Literal fucking moron.

Balder777 • 1 year ago

You know when I mentioned bottom feeding people?
You write and sound like that. In fact you're below the bottom feeding crabs yourself.

yo mama. • 1 year ago

mature story in anime show... FOH

Psicore • 1 year ago

Why would you think there would not be mature, adult (not hentai) themes in Anime? It is a medium of storytelling like movies.

Balder777 • 1 year ago

Yeah it's called "Seinen" genre.
Seinen literally means "for adult demographics".

Pineal Armstrong • 8 months ago

seinen? aren't adults the only ones who care about tits and ass, I don't think tits and ass were made for kids only adults. That's why they use them in beer commercials and rappers music videos

yo mama. • 1 year ago

im talking about how this is supposed to be realistic, failed to deliver.

ashcrimson23 • 1 year ago

i guess killing-war-slavery are kid stuff to you 🤷

Jibril • 1 year ago

yea cuz mature story can't happen in anime, riiiiiight.

Pineal Armstrong • 8 months ago

Love a good story, just not a boring one....I mean the story has here been really well written, but geez is it boring as f*ck. Still good though

Writing as I'm watching the episode

For A second there I thought that was Thorfinn at the start and was horrified. So glad it's not him.
The new OP is a BANGER
Didn't expect Vinland Saga to make me laugh today lol
This has the most detailed hands I've ever seen in anime seriously
"My wife!" Maaan, poor Einar (for the second time). That slave is probably Arnheid's husband from when they were free or something.
The ED is amazing too. The EDs in VS always have this calm yet emotional feel and this one is not an exception.
Another masterpiece episode of Vinland Saga

Dotone • 1 year ago

Fr, I didn’t expect the plot twist in the end. Einar is gonna have to search somewhere else for a wife.
It’s also wild that a lot of drama is happening on the farm, even though the main event hasn’t happened.
